Thailand lifts entry restrictions for vaccinated travelers from May 1st

On 21 April 2022, Ms. Tapanee Kruangpradit, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) at the Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Embassy, Budapest, visited Chaiyo Thai Food Truck, as the owners have applied for Thai Select certification.


Thai SELECT is a certificate awarded by the Department of International Trade, Thai Ministry of Commerce to Thai restaurants in Thailand and overseas that meet specific quality standards in the authentic taste of Thai cuisine. Using original Thai ingredients, adopting traditional Thai cooking methods, and providing excellent customer service are among the strict criteria reassessed every three years. For overseas restaurants, there are three certification levels based on the quality of food, design, and level of service: Signature, Classic and Casual.



On the other hand, Chaiyo Thai Food Truck is operated by Mr. Ábel Silhavy and Ms. Maleerat Bamroongkoh. Their first location was at Egressy Udvar food courtyard on Hungária körút between February and June 2021. After a parental break, they moved to the current location at Könyves Kálmán körút 3. in February 2022.



The restaurant operates as a food truck, creating a unique and upbeat environment. Customers can dine-in, take their order to-go, or request delivery through Wolt and FoodPanda applications. Its mobile kitchen allows the restaurant to move around. This summer, the restaurant is joining several festivals around the country, so you can enjoy their food outside Budapest on your vacation!


Chaiyo Thai Food Truck serves authentic Thai foods made by Thai chefs. There are various selections of the famous Thai single-dish menu and appetizers such as Thai fish cake, Chicken Satay, Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Massaman curry, and red curry. Their regular customers are office workers from nearby offices and stores. Therefore, the restaurant is becoming increasingly popular among locals.

It is clear that the demand for Thai cuisine is increasing in Hungary, providing the growing number of Thai restaurants around the country and more Thai food products are being sold in Hungarian supermarkets.


Chaiyo Thai Food Truck is located at 1097 Budapest, Könyves Kálmán körút 3. and opens daily except Mondays between 11.00 and 20.00 hrs. On Sundays, they are open only until 17.00 hrs. Please check their Facebook Fanpage for more updates.
